The Johnson Valley Dark Sky Ranch is a private observing site located in the Johnson Valley area of Southern California. It exists for one simple purpose: to preserve and share truly dark skies in a quiet, respectful environment.
Far from city lights and surrounded by open desert, the site offers exceptional night sky conditions well-suited for visual observing, astrophotography, and educational outreach.
A Private, Invite-Only Site
The Johnson Valley Dark Sky Ranch is a private property and is not open to the general public. Because the site is small, access is limited in order to preserve the experience and maintain the environment.

Guest Expectations
All guests are expected to treat the site, equipment, and fellow observers with respect. In order to ensure everyone’s safety and preserve the site, all visitors are required to sign a simple waiver prior to visiting.
